Tacos were awesome!! Black Marlin and Reds have the same food. Black is inside while red’s is outside. Parking lot has no trees. Beer choices were mediocre.

Update to original post: We went back to Black Marlin twice while on vacation in June 2024. It seems like the chef is now a different one. Compared to any other place on the island, I still give this restaurant 5 stars and it is one of the better places to eat, though pricey. The restaurant atmosphere is now more cozy in the evenings with dimmer lighting and lights at the tables and tablecloths. One night we did not have reservations and were still seated immediately and the other night we have advance reservations. Service was excellent. We did have to wait slightly longer for a second serving of drinks on Father's Day night, but the restaurant was also busier that evening. We had already finished our dessert before the drinks ever came to the table and we were really ready to leave by that point. One of our fave dishes, the Shrimp & Grits, seems to have had a slight recipe change. It is still a good, solid choice, but not as good as it used to be. The sauce tasted different and was thicker this time. We had to get more sauce brought to us on the side because there wasn't enough sauce for the large portion of grits in the bowl. I recall the grits used to be cheddar grits, but these tasted more plain this time. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the special, an entire redfish cooked with head on with a special sauce. He loved it and the presentation was lovely. The Key Lime Pie on the dessert menu is amazing...it is served in a coupe glass and plenty to share. The grilled chicken alfredo was amazing and my husband also raved about the mahi mahi he had on the 2nd night. Drinks are always well crafted and tasty and have remained so! We really do enjoy this restaurant and do know that different chefs will put their own spin on things. I would like to request that the original shrimp and grits come back to the menu. This is one of our fave restaurants in all of the Port A! When visiting, we always have one dinner and one brunch at Black Marlin. We were excited this last time to find out that they now take online reservations. The shrimp and grits are the best ever. Our 7 year old daughter has to get her own bowl each time and devours them. Their drinks are tasty and refreshing and they always have a great cocktail menu. Servers are always nice and we love seeing some of the same ones there year after year. The Sunday brunch has a Blood Mary Bar with so many food add-ons you may not need to order any food from the menu. Our daughter adores the croissant beignets and the avocado toast was light and perfect.

Our second time here and we decided this place is our favorite! I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the Mahi. Try the Lime in the Coconut drink! Wow! The atmosphere here is so pleasant. We really enjoy it. We highly recommend and will keep coming back.

With the exception of the girl who took our reservation who was a little bit abrupt and talked too fast, everything was outstanding from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. Our server Tammy was as perfect as they come and the food was delicious! Wedge salad very good and the Sourdough bread was some of the best we have had. The ribeye, potato and sautéed spinach were equally as delicious! Thank you for making our NYE evening so special!

I'm not sure why the reviews are mixed, but we had an excellent dining experience at Black Marlin this evening. We began with the flauta appetizer special, accompanied by a pineapple jalapeño margarita, cucumber martinis, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. For our main course, we enjoyed the scallop pasta, salmon salad, shrimp and grits, and grilled mahi mahi tacos. Everything was cooked to perfection. To finish, we couldn’t resist trying both the signature key lime pie and the strawberry shortcake. The service was outstanding—attentive and professional. I highly recommend Black Marlin and would gladly choose to dine here regularly over the typical fried bar food found at most spots on the island.

Great place, elevated aesthetic, super friendly personable staff from upon entering, and great service. Lots of delicious seafood, steaks appetizers of smoked fish dip appetizer was so delicious and our fish was so fresh and excellently cooked. Beer on tap and bottled. Full bar romantic lighting inside and overall great experience. Nice outside bar area with fire pits and full bar and community seating was inviting and apparently in summer they have live music outside. Clean restrooms and nice linens. My honey got a huge burger cooked exactly as he wanted, and great fries. I had mahi mahi perfectly cooked so flaky, flavorful and moist. I can't highly suggest the spicy tartar sauce. We literally asked how it was made as it was light so great to have full flavor. Nice options of sides and nightly specials too. My watermelon cocktail was OK but didn't necessarily taste like the fruit more liquor infused alcohol was the only thing I'd say they could improve on. We'd definitely go again. Nice fine dining option for a great couple or for smaller group of friends as the dining area was smaller and somewhat intimate.

A friend of mine recommended Black Marlin and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was better than expected after listening to the recommendation. It is not a very big restaurant which I can only assume allows them to provide quality over quantity. And for the prices, you can't beat it. This is the only restaurant I can remember where the food is a few steps above the price they charge. Don't get me wrong, it is still a 25-50 per person dining experience with the ability to go well above that, but they do such a fantastic job to where it makes it completely worth it. I left thinking I robbed the place! If you have younger kids, the Mac'n Cheese is amazing and big enough for two. Just don't try it, you may not give any to them!

This was our first time here. It was a great find for sure! We will definitely go back. We had the special: Grilled Redfish on dirty rice with Cajun cream sauce fried crawfish tails on top and served with a side of grilled zucchini and squash. This was the best fish I have had in a long time. This is a great place for date night. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. I had already taken a bite when I took the picture. Sorry NOT sorry!
